Methodology

What we publish, what we refuse to publish, and why

Quantum technology reporting is unusually prone to overstatement. Our editorial rules are written so a reader can always tell the difference between established science, an open question, and a missing data point.

We do

  • Explain physics and engineering from established, textbook-level material.
  • State the open questions that decide whether a technology claim holds.
  • Publish figures only when they trace to a filing, official release, or peer-reviewed paper.
  • Mark every unavailable dataset as an explicit placeholder.
  • Separate what is demonstrated from what is projected.

We do not

  • Generate news headlines, dates, or quotes.
  • Estimate revenue, valuation, funding, or market size.
  • Publish price levels, forecasts, or performance figures.
  • Present a technology category as an investment opportunity.
  • Fill a data gap with a plausible-looking number.

How a research profile is built

  1. 1Scope the categoryDefine the technology modality or application area precisely, so claims can be compared like for like.
  2. 2List the deciding questionsIdentify the measurements that would actually settle progress: fidelity, depth, loss, overhead, or migration coverage.
  3. 3Write the technical backgroundSummarise the mechanism at a level a non-specialist can verify against standard references.
  4. 4Declare the data gapsState which numbers are missing and what source class would be required to publish them.
  5. 5Revisit on new evidenceProfiles are living documents; new attributable evidence updates the entry rather than the narrative.
